The studio / Toronto

Small enough to notice
the small stuff.

The people with the opinions are also the people opening the files. No relay team. No “let me circle back with creative.”

Noah Barlow, founder of Smaller Agency

Senior thinking. Hands still on the work.

01 / How we operate

The handoff is where good work goes to die.

So we don’t build one into the process.

01

No relay race.

You won’t explain the brief six times. The people in the first conversation stay close enough to protect the idea—and push back when it needs pushing.

02

Strategy has to make something.

If the positioning falls apart on a label, it wasn’t very good positioning. We think and make at the same table, with the actual object in view.

03

The right gang for the job.

An illustrator for one brief. A food stylist for another. Someone who knows an unreasonable amount about foil. The team changes. The standard doesn’t.

Noah Barlow

02 / The founder

Noah has been doing this long enough to skip the theatre.

Twenty years. Eighty-plus launches. More beer, chocolate, cannabis, supplements and frozen dinner than most résumés should hold.

Before Smaller, Noah worked on Miller Lite Canada, Kit Kat Chocolatory, Pilsner Urquell and Carlsberg. His Brand → Package → Demand framework keeps one useful question in the room: what will make someone notice, believe and choose?

03 / Capabilities

Find the idea. Give it a face. Put it in people’s hands.

Three connected jobs. One point of view carried all the way through.
